The Austin Summer Survival Guide for New Moms
Splash pads, indoor play, and the coolest mornings to get outside before the heat.
Austin summers are no joke with a baby. Start your day early: most splash pads (Mueller, Bartholomew, Buda City Park) are quiet before 10am. Keep an indoor backup ready for the 2pm heat wall: the Thinkery and Tumble22 are both fully air-conditioned. Stash a muslin blanket, a battery fan that clips to the stroller, and an extra outfit for the inevitable splash. And remember that a 7am walk on the Mueller loop counts as a whole outing when it is 102 by noon.
